Moving Lambs Yesterday Evening

Answer eleven of Dorset finest! 1st class ride!

The weather has been really hot over the last week which is lovely for us but for the sheep wanting grass it's not sooooo good.

Chris out on the tractor

A Vintage Zetor 1966. She's been stripped down and rebuilt in full working order. Chris has plans to take part in the young farmers ploughing competition this Sunday so which this space for the results.

Bring Small Home!

This is Small, a tiny little lamb from work. She was one of a triplet and needs lots of bottle feeding so I thought it might be nice for us to have her at home with us!!  As you can see Pip loves her!

The Old Lady

Having breakfast this morning looking out at the girls.
Chris spotted the old lady making small circles  in
the same spot and digging with one foot. A good sign
that she's ready to give birth. The first popped out
at 6.45 a little girl (our first this year). The ewe
cleaned her up quick and the little one was on her
feet quickly. The flock gathered round checking out
the new member of the family even our little ram had
a good snoop! Half an hour passed and Chris needed
to head out to work so we thought it best to get
the ewe in and have a closer look.  She needed a
little help but had two large boys, making this the first triplets this year!

The First Lambs

Yesterday this ewe had twins to very small boys,
these were her first lambs so she didn't know what to think when they first started feeding but she's taken to it well now.

She's a lovely quiet ewe and likes a good head rub.

View from the window

The night is drawing in on a sunny winters day and the view from the window is the lovely herwicks bums eating the haylage. Chris is out putting together some pens up for the imminent arrival of the lambs.

Imminent lambs

So here we are, a couple of days before lambing is due to kick off. All wondering if they will be early or late or what will be in store for the next three and a half weeks! Watch this space!
